Microsoft president Brad Smith says artificial intelligence faces fewer safety rules than milk or washing machines. He told the BBC that companies need emergency brakes, also called kill switches, so they can pause or slow AI that grows out of control. Microsoft chief executive Satya Nadella made a similar call over the weekend, and Britain's AI minister is expected to press developers on safety in a speech on Monday. Smith also wants a legal obligation to victims when rogue AI agents breach a system.
